Kevin Derr is in his second season as an assistant coach at the University of Tampa. Derr is excited to join the Tampa coaching staff after recently finding success at the high school level. He also brings numerous years of club coaching experience to the field.
Most recently, Derr served as the Assistant Varsity Coach at his alma mater, Johnson City High School, in Johnson City, New York. Derr helped lead the Wildcats to back-to-back Section IV Class C Championships and was named Section IV Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018.
In addition to assisting varsity lacrosse at the high school level, Derr was also in charge of the Johnson City Youth Lacrosse Association. For the Association, he traveled around the state of New York and helped train youth lacrosse coaches.
Prior to his numerous coaching gigs in lacrosse, football, and wrestling, Derr played attack at Ithaca College. Unfortunately, he suffered a career-ending injury, which ultimately led him to the coaching profession.
