UT Men’s Soccer Set To Host Florida Southern
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (1-6-1, 1-2 SSC) men's soccer team takes the field at Pepin Stadium for a Wednesday evening match at 7:00 p.m., against the Florida Southern College Mocs (4-5, 1-3 SSC).
Tampa is 28-3-2 all-time against Florida Southern, beating the
Mocs 2-0 last season on the road. The Spartans have won four
straight over the Mocs and seven of the last eight.
Junior midfielder Dominic Cutrofello is tied with senior midfielder
Ryan Griffin for the team lead in goals with three.
Cutrofello scored the game's only goal last Saturday in a 1-0 victory over No. 16 Lynn. The goal came on a corner kick by senior Karl Swan, which Cutrofello headed in after a brief touch by freshman Andrew Clare.
Tampa has been outshot 119-118 this season. However, they were able to outshoot Lynn 12-7 on Saturday.
Florida Southern has outscored its opponents 24-22 this season. Senior midfielder Zach Hofstetter leads all Mocs in scoring with nine goals, eight assists and 38 shots. Another bright spot for the Mocs is junior defender Ashley Holmes. Holmes has scored six goals, while adding one assist.
Florida Southern started the season off 4-1, but has dropped four straight games, while being outscored 11-4. Wednesday evening's match against Tampa marks the second game of a six game road trip for the Mocs.
Tickets will be available at the gate for $5 (adults) and $3 (children and senior citizens). UT students will be admitted for free with a valid student ID.
