TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team will host the Florida Tech Panthers tomorrow night in the final home game of the regular season. The match will also be senior night as the team will recognize the eight seniors on the squad prior to the match.
The Matchup: Tampa (5-3-2, 4-2-2 SSC) vs. Florida Tech (9-2, 6-1 SSC)
Date/Time: Saturday, October 21 at 7 p.m.
Location: Pepin Stadium | Tampa, Fla.
Last Time Out: UT hosted NSU in a makeup game rescheduled from earlier this season on Tuesday night. The Spartans controlled the game the entire time and came out on top 3-0 over the Sharks. Felipe DeSousa and Monty Berrow scored a minute apart late in the first half to give their team a 2-0 lead at the break and Lewis Sugden notched the final tally of the match in the final seconds of the game. Tampa held Nova to just three shots on the night in recording their third straight home shutout.
About the Spartans: The Tampa offense is led by Bay Downing, Berrow, and DeSousa who each have scored three goals this season while seven other players have added at least one goal. Sugden also leads the team in assists with four while eight other players have at least one. In net, Jake Richards has been the starter for the last eight games, recording 25 saves with 3 shutouts this season and has a 1.07 GAA.
About the Panthers: Brandon Smalley leads the Tech offense with six goals and six assists. In the meantime, Hugo Lopez and Per Henrik Nag have combined for eight goals and seven assists. Goalkeeper Christopher Page has played a majority of the minutes and comes into the match with a 1.22 GAA, 22 saves on 71 shots faced and one shutout.
Series History: Tampa leads the all-time series against Tech 34-15-5.
