UT Continues First Place Standing at Shark Invitational Heading into Final Day
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams both remain in first place following day three of the second annual Shark Invitational Sunday at the NSU Aquatic Center. The event is being hosted by Sunshine State Conference opponent Nova Southeastern University.
Tampa's women's team is 188 points ahead of host Nova Southeastern. The men also remain in first, 164.5 points ahead of Florida Southern and 180 points ahead of Nova Southeastern.
Catherine Parker won the 200 Fly for UT on day three as she posted a time of 2:04.80 for an NCAA B result. Tampa's women also won the 800 Free Relay from Kristine Kassl, Heather Glenday, Alexandra Greenhill and Alex Hipolito. The group finished in 7:34.97 for an NCAA B time.
Norbert Kovacs was the star of the third day as he became an automatic qualifier in the 200 Fly following a time of 1:46.95. He also set a new school record en route to the victory.
Tampa will conclude the Shark Invitational on Monday, will competition starting 10 a.m., at the NSU Aquatic Center.
