Tampa Swimming Remains Among Nation’s Top Teams
TAMPA, Fla. - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Team Rankings have been release, and The University of Tampa men are now No. 6 while the women come in at No. 13.
The CSCAA rankings are voted on by seven CSCAA member coaches and one member of the media. The rankings will be released three times during 2013-14 season. Tampa's men were previously No. 8 as the women were No. 11.
In men's swimming, the Spartans are one of four Sunshine State Conference schools as Florida Southern (4), Nova Southeastern (14) and Saint Leo (21) are also ranked. Florida Southern (4) and Nova Southeastern's (15) women also receive mention.
Both Tampa teams are coming off impressive performances at the fourth annual Shark Invitational, which was hosted by Nova Southeastern University. Both UT teams won as the men set six school records in the four-day meet.
Both teams also have dual meet victories over Saint Leo and Florida Tech, as the women topped Lynn.
The Spartans return to action on January 4 at the UT Aquatics Center in the Tampa Relays. The meet is scheduled for 10 a.m., and will also mark the final home competition of 2013-14.
The CSCAA Poll Committee will produce in-season rankings of the
25 best performing NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving teams in
rank order at the time of each poll. The poll is not designed to
predict the results of the NCAA Championship, but rather which
teams would win head-to-head against other teams in the
country.
