MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Brett Saunders was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week following his efforts at the fourth-annual Spartan Invite in Clearwater.
Saunders led Tampa to the top of the SSC standings at this year's Spartan Invite. The Newark, Del., native set new school records in both the 200 Breast and 400 IM and tallied three individual NCAA "B" qualifying times.
Among his top efforts were a second place finish in the 200 Breast (1:59.39), second in the 400 IM (3:49.45), and third in the 200 IM (1:47.87). His 400 IM also stands as the top time in Division II this season. The 200 Breast school record also broke the program's longest-standing record, dating back to 2002.
