Heather Nicolosi and Jarrett Slaven Earn Top SSC Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - Heather Nicolosi and Jarrett Slaven represented The University of Tampa as members of the 2010 All-Sunshine State Conference Women's Cross Country Team were announced. Nicolosi was named Runner of the Year Slaven, was selected Coach of the Year. Nova Southeastern's Alexandria Palm was chosen Freshman of the Year.

Joining Nicolosi and Palm on the All-SSC team were: Florida Tech's Nicole Clarke, Rollins' Lauryn Falcone, and Tampa's Lindsay Edwards and Kaia Hampton.

A junior, Nicolosi posted five top-five finishes this season. The Seminole, Fla., native placed first at the SSC Championship and Florida Southern Invitational. Nicolosi also logged a second-place performance at the Florida Tech Invitational. She was third at the Lehigh Invitational and fourth at the UT Early Bird Classic. Nicolosi's efforts earned her SSC Runner of the Week acclaim four times this fall.

Currently in his 12th season at Tampa, Slaven was tabbed Coach of the Year for the ninth time. He led the Spartans to their fourth consecutive SSC championship and their eighth in nine years. Tampa posted seven top-ten finishes this season, including five top-five performances. The Spartans claimed first place at the SSC Championship, the UT Early Bird Classic, the Florida Tech Invitational, and the Florida Southern Invitational. Additionally, the Spartans grabbed fifth place at the University of Florida Invitational.

Voting for the All-SSC cross country team was conducted among the league's cross country coaches and sports information directors.
