Spartans Remain Competitive at FSU Invitational
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Florida State University Invitational, with the Spartan men placing eighth as the No. 15 women were fourth overall.
Auburn won the men's 8K as a total of 17 teams competed. In the women's race, UT was the top Division II team as only North Florida, Florida State and Auburn topped the Spartans.
Heather Nicolosi and Jess Butler finished 12th and 13th respectively with times of 18:19.69 and 18:20.36 in the 5K. Fellow Spartan Kaia Hampton placed 16th with a showing of 18:41.59.
Other Spartan women to compete were Katie O'Brien (26th, 19:15.40), Kelly Hagan (30th, 19:21.56), Lindsay Edwards (33rd, 19:33.32), Rose Bishop (51st, 20:01.35), Christa McLeod (65th, 20:33.60), Liz Anthony (76th, 20:56.40) and Hailey Smith (92nd, 21:25.81).
In the men's race, Lewis Price was the top Tampa performer with a time of 27:45.97 to finish 52nd overall. Other UT runners were Tory Webb (60th, 27:52.38), Peter Orgass (61st, 27:52.66), Michael Zwijacz (62nd, 27:54.25), Zachary Scott (63rd, 27:54.79), Eddie Paniccia (70th, 28:17.74), Chris Rego (75th, 28:23.01), Mike Leone (78th, 28:32.20), Kevin Lane (90th, 28:59.05) and Bryan Garcia (128th, 31:20.72).
Tampa returns to action on Sat., Oct. 1 at the Lehigh (Pa.) Invitational.
