Tampa Women Run To Second Place Finish At Lehigh Invitational
LEHIGH, Pa. - The No. 14 University of Tampa women's cross country team finished second at the Paul Short Run, which was hosted by Lehigh University. The Spartan men were 25th overall.
In the women's race, UT was edged by Iona College as its second-place finish was in a field of 44 teams, predominantly NCAA Division I opponents. Iona also captured the men's crown, with 46 team competing.
Jess Butler led the Spartan women, finishing the 6K with a time of 22:38 to place 20th. Other Spartans to compete for the women included Heather Nicolosi (22nd, 22:47), Katie O'Brien (28th, 22:55), Kaia Hampton (30th, 22:59), Lindsay Edwards (50th, 23:16), Kelly Hagan (53rd, 23:18) and Rose Bishop (132nd, 24:11).
The Spartan men were paced by Charles Toledo. The junior ran the 8K in 26:11, good for a 22nd-place finish. Peter Orgass (139th, 27:19), Michael Zwijacz (162nd, 27:31), Zachary Scott (167th, 27:34), Eddie Paniccia (192nd, 27:48), Lewis Price (244th, 28:19) and Tory Webb (300th, 29:54) also ran for Tampa.
Tampa returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Disney Classic in Kissimmee, Fla.
