Spartans Hold Firm at No. 11 in National Rankings
NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced its NCAA Division II national women's cross country poll, with the University of Tampa remaining at No. 11.
The Spartans, who were ranked No. 13 in the preseason poll, have competed in five races in the 2011 season. UT opened the season with a second-place finish at the Early Bird Classic before placing third at the USF Open, fourth at the Florida State Invitational, second at the Lehigh Invitational and most recently first at the Disney Classic.
Tampa has now been ranked for a program-record 53 consecutive weeks, dating back to the 2006 season. UT is also ranked No. 1 in the South Region as its men are third in the South Region.
The Spartans have also been selected to host the 2011 NCAA Division II South Regional, which is slated for Nov. 5. The race will also be held at Dover Trails.
