Tampa Cross Country Closes Season at NCAA Championships
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Tampa women's cross country team ran at the 2014 NCAA Division II Championships at Tom Sawyer Park on Saturday, finishing 26th among the nation's top runners.
Grand Valley State took the top three spots, led by individual national champion Kendra Foley, who finished the 5.78K race with a time of 21:05.80.
Tampa led all Sunshine State Conference and South Region schools with a total of 659 points. Saint Leo placed 28th overall while Union (Tenn.) was 32nd. The three were the representatives coming out of the South Regional, which was won by UT.
Chantalle Blundell led the Spartans, finishing 69th overall with a time of 22:42.50. Also running for Tampa were Claudia Cancello (22:55.30), Elaina Cancello (23:38.50), Aislinn Sroczynski (23:59.50), Kayla Sullivan (24:19.30), Marissa Yovetich (25:07.20) and Rachel Higgins (26:28.10).
This marks the 12th consecutive appearance for the Spartans at the NCAA Nation Championships, dating back to the 2003 season.
