Jessica Tejas Earns Player of the Week Award

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference has honored University of Tampa softball player Jessica Tejas as its Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 9.

Tejas, a sophomore outfielder from Land O'Lakes, collected some impressive numbers in leading the Spartans to a three-game SSC sweep against Eckerd. Tejas went 5-for-6 (.833) at the plate, with four of her five hits coming in the form of extra-base hits. In an 8-0 win in the opener, she was 2-for-2 with a double and a home run. In a 4-1 win in game two, she went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. In a 12-4 win in the finale, she recorded a hit in her lone at-bat. Tejas concluded the series with four RBI, four runs, an eye-popping 2.000 slugging percentage, an .800 OBP, and a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage.
