UT Softball Player Susan Jallo Earns Sportsmanship Award
CLEARWATER, Fla. - University of Tampa freshman softball player Susan Jallo has been recognized with a City of Clearwater Excellence in Youth Sportsmanship Award. The award is presented by the City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the National Alliance For Youth Sports.
As a winner of the award, Jallo met the qualifications in all nine of the major areas. The qualities that she adhered to were the following: congratulating teammates and opponents for effort and excellent performances, shaking hands wherever it fits into a sports culture, helping up a teammate and opposing players who have fallen or been injured, thanking officials for their effort and work, keeping facilities clean, both home and away, avoids taunting and trash talking, avoids disrespectful, "in your face", celebrations, does not condone fighting or violence of any kind, does not use profanity or other disrespectful language.
She will be honored with the award on Feb. 28 as Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon will be the presenter.
Jallo, a freshman from Dunedin, is a graduate of East Lake High School. She expects to start at third base for the Spartans in her first season at UT.
