Deanna Henriott Turns In Another Historic Performance In First Game Of UT Split
CLERMONT, Fla. - The University of Tampa (13-3) softball team won its 10th straight game with a 6-0 victory over American International (2-2) as UT pitcher Deanna Henriott threw her second career no-hitter. In the second game, Tampa dropped a 3-2 decision to West Liberty State (1-1).
Against American International, Henriott pitched her second career no-hitter and the seventh in UT history. Her gem included 14 strikeouts in the seven inning performance for the sophomore from St. Petersburg.
Jessica Tejas led UT's offensive effort against American International with a 3-4 effort at the plate. Tejas drove in two runs as Becky Vyzas also drove in a pair.
Henriott also pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in the second game as Horan collected a pair of hits at the plate in the loss. Vyzas, Tejas and Ashley Arcuri each drove in a run for the Spartans.
UT is back in action on Thursday in Clermont as it meets Wayne State, Nebr., and Felician at 11 a.m., and 1 p.m.
