Deanna Henriott Tosses One Hitter As Spartans Beat Saint Leo 2-0
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa softball team (22-6, 9-2) took the first game in the SSC matchup with Saint Leo (26-18, 5-8) as the Spartans won 2-0.
Senior second baseman Ashley Arcuri led off the game with a double down the left field line. A few pitches later, she swiped third base and then came around to score on a Samantha Becker sacrifice fly to right field. The Spartans would tack on another run in the top of the seventh when Jessica Keefe singled to left. That was followed by an RBI triple to right by freshman Susan Jallo.
The two-run lead would be all pitcher Deanna Henriott (14-4) needed as she allowed only one hit as she pitched her ninth complete game shutout on the season. Henriott also picked up nine strikeouts as she records her 14th win this year.
The Spartans will be back in action tomorrow as these two teams face off in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Live stats will be provided through www.tampaspartans.com.
