Rollins Powers Past No. 23 Tampa
WINTER PARK, Fla. - The No. 23 University of Tampa (24-7, 11-3 SSC) softball team fell by a 3-0 score to Rollins College (35-6, 8-5 SSC) in the first of a three-game set in Sunshine State Conference play.
The Spartan bats were shut down by RC pitcher Nicole Anderson (18-5), who registered her fifth no-hitter of the season in the shutout victory. The game remained scoreless until the Tars struck for one in the fourth. Rollins also tacked on a pair of runs in sixth inning.
Deanna Henriott (16-5) went the distance for the Spartans, hurling 4.1 innings of no-hit ball to start the game. In six innings, the sophomore from St. Petersburg struck out nine Tars.
The only offense UT mustered was a walk by Jessica Tejas while Ashley Arcuri also reached base after being hit by a pitch. Anderson's gem also included 12 strikeouts.
