No. 19 Tampa Set for Weekend Series Against St. Leo
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 19 University of Tampa (21-3, 6-0 SSC) softball team is set for a weekend series against Sunshine State Conference (SSC) opponent St. Leo University (16-14, 2-4 SSC) beginning on Friday evening at 6 p.m. in Vince Naimoli Softball Field.
The Spartans hold an overall 34-49 record against the Lions. They last met in the 2011 season when the Spartans won by a score of 2 to 1 (03/26/2011).
Tampa has continued to boast strong pitching by the duo of Kayla Cox and Deanna Henriott. Henriott earned the SSC pitcher of the week honors by tossing three complete-game shutouts, including a perfect game.
The offense will look for continued production from the top of their lineup. Kayleen Boatwright and Susan Jallo have set the table well for the Spartans, as both players are batting over .320 with a combined 25 RBI and 26 runs scored.
Along with playing the game on Friday evening, the Spartans will follow up with a double-header on Saturday afternoon starting at 1 p.m., and the second game following shortly after the first.
Entrance to all UT softball games is free of charge. Tampa will also offer live stats, which are available through tampaspartans.com.
