Kayla Cox Picks Up Third SSC Pitcher of Week Honor
Tampa's Kayla Cox has been selected Sunshine State Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week presented by VALIC.
Cox, a senior from Riverview, Fla. pitched a complete-game
two-hit shutout in game one of a pivotal SSC series against Nova
Southeastern. No. 2 Tampa and the Sharks were the top two teams in
the conference heading into the series. Cox struck out eight
batters in game one in route to her 5-0 two-hit shutout.
In game three, Cox gave up no earned runs in another complete-game
effort. She allowed just five hits and struck out four batters. She
finished the week with two wins, a 0.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14
innings of work.
