No. 22 Spartans Split SSC Doubleheader with Panthers
TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 22 University of Tampa
(9-5, 1-2 SSC) softball team split a pair of games with Florida
Tech (16-4, 2-1 SSC) at Naimoli Family Field on Sunday
afternoon.
Senior Julia Morrow started game one for the Spartans and was dealt
her second loss of the season.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first inning as Florida
Tech rallied for five runs on five hits in the top of the
second.
The Panther offense extended its lead to 11-0 in the third after
adding six runs on seven hits.
Kandi Kuder, Meagan Burke, and Taylor Collins each contributed a
base hit to the UT offense.
Morrow started game two for the Spartans and earned her seventh
victory of the season. She tossed 7.0 innings with 10 strikeouts
while allowing two runs on four hits.
Tampa took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Lindsay Dring
came around to score on a fielder error by FIT.
The Spartans rallied for four runs in the third to take a 5-0
advantage as Dring and Taylor Szostak each delivered clutch two out
RBI base hits in the inning.
Florida Tech cut the deficit to 5-2 in the top of the sixth as
Taylor Peterson and Nicole Shinsky each tallied an RBI base
hit.
Tampa extended the lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the inning on an
RBI double by Kuder to plate Alyssa Colletti.
Morrow and the Spartans defense held on for the victory in game two
to split the doubleheader with the Panthers.

a doubleheader against Dowling with the first game scheduled for 6
