Tampa Falls to Saint Leo 4-1
SAINT LEO, Fla. - The University of Tampa
(11-6, 1-3 SSC) softball team suffered a 4-1 defeat to Saint Leo
University (14-5, 1-3 SSC) at University Stadium on Friday
evening.
Senior Julia Morrow started for the Spartans and was dealt her
third loss of the season. She tossed 6.0 innings with 11
strikeouts.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings as
Morrow and Lions starter Samantha Tyler dominated in the
circle.
Tampa took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a clutch two out
RBI single by Jennie Sittloh to plate Meagan Burke.
Saint Leo evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth on an
RBI double by Adriana Sanders that scored Michelle George.
The Lions claimed a 4-1 advantage on a three run homer by Brittany
Creamer which would be the eventual final score.
Burke, Sittloh, Lindsay Dring, and Jenna Halper each contributed a
base hit each to the Spartan offense.
UT will return to action Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader at
Saint Leo to conclude the SSC series with the first game scheduled
