Morrow Claims Second SSC Pitcher of the Week Award
MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Julia Morrow has been selected Sunshine State Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Morrow, a senior from Baiting Hollow, N.Y. went 4-1 on the week to help Tampa move their overall record to 16-8. She started the week with a perfect game over No. 10 LIU-Post and struck out 15 batters in the 1-0 Spartan win. The senior came back in game two against LIU-Post and threw a complete game two hitter while surrendering just one run as the Spartans went on to win, 3-1.
Morrow also pitched a three-game series against No. 15 Rollins, taking two of three games against the SSC leading Tars. The senior pitched complete games in both wins as she gave up just one earned run and struck out 23 batters. Throughout the week, the Tampa ace tossed 33.0 innings and amassed 54 strikeouts.
UT will be back in action on Saturday, as they host Barry for an SSC series opener at the Naimoli Family Softball Field with the game set to begin at 6 p.m.
