UT Set for Weekend Series with FSC
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (18-9, 6-6 SSC) softball team is set to take on Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern College (14-20, 1-8 SSC) for a weekend series.
The first game of the series is set for 6 p.m., on Friday evening at Naimoli Family Field, with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., on Saturday.
The all-time record for Tampa against Florida Southern is 32-51. They last met in 2014 in Lakeland as the Spartans swept the three games series over the Mocs.
UT is led by senior ace Julia Morrow who is holds an overall record of 15-5 with 215 strikeouts while sporting a 1.82 ERA in 138.2 innings pitched. She has tossed 18 complete games including two perfect games, a no-hitter, and seven shutouts.
Offensively, Meagan Burke is leading the way, hitting .346 on the season with a team-high four homeruns along with 13 RBI. Kandi Kuder and Lindsay Dring are batting over .300 as Kuder has tallied a team-leading 29 hits with 10 RBI while Dring has contributed 25 hits and 13 RBI. Bre Setree also holds a team-best 14 RBI with one homerun and 22 hits.
Florida Southern enters the matchup led by Leah Pemberton and Kylee Stearns. Pemberton sports a team-leading .364 batting average and 22 RBI along with 40 hits. Stearns is batting .340 with 33 hits and 11 RBI for FSC.
