MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Sunshine State Conference announced its softball player of the week winners and awarded junior Makaleigh Dooley the Pitcher of the Week recognition. This is the first Player of the Week recognition for the Spartans this season and this marks the fifth time that Dooley has received this honor.
The Tampa, Fla. native was key in helping her team go 6-1 last week including a 2-1 record in conference play. Dooley went 5-0 in the circle and also added a save. The pitcher tossed 36.2 innings and had four complete games giving up no runs, 13 hits, walking six and striking out 41 batters. In the three-game series vs the Lynn Fighting Knights, she shutout the visitors in both of her starts giving up just two hits in each contest.
Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 5th - 11th, 2018. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
