Eagles Take Opening Game in Extra Innings over Spartans

TAMPA, Fla. –  The University of Tampa softball team hosted the Embry-Riddle Eagles for a three-game series between the 2nd and 3rd place team in the Sunshine State standings. The opening game on Friday night went the way of the visitors despite a very strong outing from Makaleigh Dooley in the circle for the Spartans.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Top 9th: The Eagles broke the deadlock as they scored three times in the inning to make the difference.

INSIDE THE STATS:

  • Dooley had 12 strikeouts in the game, two short of her career high.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • A stolen base by Mackenzie Allen in the bottom of the 7th inning snapped a seven-game streak with no stolen bases for Tampa.

UP NEXT:

The series will wrap up with a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
