HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Spartans started off the series in the best way possible, with Gwen McGinnis recording a 1-2-3 top of the first and the offense dialing up a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame. Tampa would keep their foot on the gas and were able to plate three more runs in the second as Jenna Neupaver and Cam Feast both recorded and RBI. Tampa's quick start on offense saw them put up seven hits in the first two innings, leading them to a 5-0 lead. Tampa's pitching would take control of the game as McGinnis would finish her outing after four scoreless innings and pass the ball over to Kelsey Winters. Winters would more than hold up her end of the bargain, finishing the last three innings without allowing a hit and earning the save. The Spartans would further pad their lead by adding a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to some patient hitting.
