Sheena Walton Named SSC’s Top Performer
ORLANDO, Fla. - After leading The University of Tampa women's basketball team to a 4-0 week and a victory over 11th-ranked Valdosta State, Sheena Walton has been tabbed the Sunshine State Conference player of the week.
Walton, who hails from Largo, led the Spartans to a 4-0 record, including a win over number-11 Valdosta State. Walton averaged 17.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 blocks, 1.0 assist, and 0.8 steals per contest. Walton's biggest performances of the week came against a pair of South Region opponents, as she notched 26 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks in a 57-54 win at West Alabama and registered 22 points, seven boards, and five blocks in the win over Valdosta. For the week, Walton connected on 63 percent (29-for-46) of her field goal attempts and 81 percent (13-of-16) of her free throws.
