Spartans Down University of Puerto Rico-Cayey In Home Opener

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's basketball team cruised by University of Puerto Rico-Cayey 80-21 in their home opener. With the win the Spartans improve to 2-1 on the season, while UPR-Cayey drops to 0-3.

Tampa opened the game with a 9-0 run and continued their hot shooting leading 51-7 at the half. In the second half, Tampa continued where they had left off, going on an 11-0 run that lasted over seven minutes.

Every Spartan contributed to the score with at least one field goal. The team was led by freshman guard Sarah Wickham who added 17 points including four three-pointers. Angela Guiu also scored in double figures with 11 points while junior transfer Caitlyn Mitryk collected seven rebounds for Tampa.
