Jaleesa Harmon and Illyssa Vivo Earn SSC Accolades

ORLANDO, Fla. - A total of 16 student-athletes have been recognized as members of the 2011-12 All-Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Team. Among the honorees were the University of Tampa's Jaleesa Harmon and Illyssa Vivo.

Florida Southern's Michaela Hawley was selected Player of the Year, while Moccasin skipper Jarrod Olson was tabbed Coach of the Year. Rollins' Paris Moore was named Defensive Player of the Year, while her teammate, Ashley Jones, was chosen as the Newcomer of the Year. Nova Southeastern's Danielle Robinson was recognized as the Freshman of the Year.

Joining Hawley on the All-SSC First Team were: Briauna Hagins (Florida Tech), Kira Harvey (Lynn), Ashton McClairen (Florida Tech), and Meixandra Porter (Nova Southeastern).

Receiving all-conference second team honors were: Danielle DeBerry (Barry), Megan Dzikas (Florida Southern), Paris Moore (Rollins), Kati Rausberg (Eckerd), and Taylor Young (Eckerd).

Tampa's Harmon earned honorable mention status on the all-SSC squad.

An All-Newcomer team was also selected. Joining Jones, Robinson, and Porter on the squad were Tampa's Vivo and Barry's Alexandria Zamora.

Harmon, a senior center, led all Spartans in scoring at 13.4 points per game to go with a .522 field goal percentage. Vivo, a sophomore point guard, was second on the team while averaging 12.0 points. She also led UT with 94 assists.

Voting for the All-SSC team was conducted among the league's women's basketball coaches and sports information directors.
