Shamika Williams Nets SSC Weekly Award
WINTER PARK, Fla. - University of Tampa senior guard Shamika Williams has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week presented by VALIC.
Williams led the Spartans to a 2-0 week with back-to-back double-doubles. The Baltimore, Md., native recorded a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-62 win over Florida Southern to begin the week. She went 7-of-13 from the field and pulled down eight defensive rebounds. On Saturday, Williams led Tampa to a 71-60 win over previously unbeaten No. 3 Nova Southeastern. The senior recorded another double-double with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Ten of her 11 rebounds came on defense.
