HOW IT HAPPENED:
st Quarter | The Spartans were on the score board first with a two point jumper from senior Jenny Horvatinovic. This was followed by a layup by junior Karma Jeremie, a three point jumper from Horvatinovic, and another layup from Jeremie to make the Spartans go up 9-0 in the first three minutes of the quarter. UT stayed on top and headed into the second quarter leading 24-15. Senior Elena deAlfredo contributed eight points in the opening quarter as well as tallying three assists.
nd Quarter | Freshman Rachel Warden was the first to score in the second quarter, draining a three point jump shot. Junior Morgan Lumb came off the bench to score a three pointer of her own to increase the lead to 35-21. The Spartans continued on their streak never letting the Gyrenes get too close. UT ended the first half of play leading by a generous 45-31 margin.
rd Quarter | After the halftime break, Horvatinovic struck again with another three point jump shot followed by a layup. The break only fueled the Spartans as they continued to increase their lead. Back-to-back Warden three pointers would make the score 61-35. The Spartans led by almost 30 as they headed into the final quarter.
th Quarter | The Gyrenes were on the scoreboard first in the last stanza with a layup. However it wasn't enough to spark their offense. The Spartans continued to tally point after point, increasing their lead by as much as 30. A three pointer by Lumb would solidify the win at 81-52.
