Top-Ranked Lubbock Christian Survives Spartan Scare
BILLINGS, Mont. – The No. 11 University of Tampa women's basketball team took a defeat to the No.1team in the nation and defending national champion Lubbock Christian Chaparrals in its final game of the DII Tipoff Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The two teams were fairly even throughout the quarter. Two Spartans Kayla Bonilla and Dori Nagy would both shoot 100 percent from the field with Nagy leading the way with 4 points. Despite UT being 50 percent from the perimeter, Lubbock Christians three-pointers would give them the edge as the Chaparrals would make two three-pointers in a row in addition to a layup to go on an 8-0 run early in the quarter. Score: 12-10 Lubbock Christian
2nd QUARTER
Another evenly matched quarter would be brought upon us once again with these two teams, as there would be 6 lead changes between the two sides with both teams shooting 38.5 percent with Lubbock Christian just outrebounding the Spartans 8-7, Melijah Sullivan would shoot a grand 80 percent from the field while leading the Spartans in scoring with a solid 10 points at the half. However, another 8-0 run by the Chapperals would make the difference here. Score: 24-21 Lubbock Christian
3rd QUARTER
This is when the game would get out of reach for the Spartans, as they would shoot a low 30.8 percent compared to Lubbock Christians 55.6, as the Chaparrals would get off to a quick 13-4 run to start off the quarter. Mya Giusto would lead the team in scoring with 5 in the quarter. Score: 39-31 Lubbock Christian
4th QUARTER
This would be the last of the Spartans as they would cut the lead down to six before Lubbock Christian would go on yet another run, this one being a 6-0 run and the game was far from being reached at this moment. As Bonilla would end the game with a three-pointer of her own.

Eleanore Marciszewski would contribute to 6 points off the bench both coming from behind the arc, including a second-quarter buzzer-beater before the half.
