No. 11 Spartans Defeat No. 19 Bulldogs in Tampa Classic
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 11 University of Tampa women's basketball team defeated No. 19 Union University in the latest game of the Tampa Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st QUARTER
The Bulldogs opened the scoring after an offensive rebound and put back by Jaelencia Williams. The Spartans found themselves down by three early but could get back into the game thanks to baskets by Dori Nagy and a three-point play by Melijah Sullivan. It was a back and forth first quarter with both teams making big plays. Towards the end of the quarter, the Spartans were able to grab the lead by four, with Erin Antosh making two crucial free throws. Tampa led 22-18.
2nd QUARTER
The Spartans started the second quarter with back-to-back turnovers allowing Union to tie the game at 22. The Spartans were able to get the lead right back with a 10-0 run led by a long two by Antosh. Following this possession, with Aliyah Abney scoring 2 of her 9 points in the quarter. The Bulldogs managed to cut into the lead, but the Spartans looked like the stronger team going into halftime, leading 40-33.
3rd QUARTER
The Bulldogs opened the second half scoring with Jaelencia Williams scoring two of her eleven points of the quarter. Antosh had a strong showing herself, leading the Spartans with 8 points in the quarter. Tampa was able to maintain a 6-point lead going into the 4th quarter.
4th QUARTER
Tampa opened the scoring in this quarter with Abney continuing her excellent game, driving to the basket and finishing with a layup as the shot clock expired. Tampa continued to dominate, with strong fourth quarter offensive performances by Kayla Bonilla, Abney, and Nagy. Tampa closed the game out, winning 77-67.

- Four Spartans scored in double digits tonight: Abney (26), Nagy (18), Antosh (14), and Bonilla (10).
- Abney, Nagy, and Bonilla combined scored 18 of the 20 points in the 4th quarter for the Spartans.
