Tampa Concludes First Tournament With Seventh-Place Effort
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Featuring a lineup with two freshmen and three newcomers, the University of Tampa women's golf team finished seventh at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational at Worthington Country Club.
The Spartans shots respective rounds of 328 and 325 to come in at 653. Fellow Sunshine State Conference opponent Barry University was the team champion with a 596 in a field that included three NCAA Division I opponents.
Sophomore Fatin Amin was the top golfer for head coach Missey Jones' squad. Amin fired off rounds of 80 and 82 to total 162 for a 32nd place showing. Freshman Grace Ziamandanis enjoyed the best overall round for UT with a 79 on Monday. She came in at 35th with a total score of 164.
Brittany Bradshaw (167), Grace Marie Schian (169) and Jenee Vanderstyne (170) were also in Tampa's lineup. Robin Manarik (168), Gabrielle Miller (176) and Allison Nill (202)) also competed as individuals for the Spartans. Vanderstyne also shot a team-best 79 in a round.
Tampa returns to action on Oct. 7-8 at the Nova Southeastern Invitational at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
