Toennessen Leads No. 16 Tampa to Runner‑Up Finish at The Patriot Invitational
MONTEREY, Calif. – The University of Tampa women's golf team closed play at The Patriot Invitational with a strong runner‑up finish, posting a second‑place team result at The Quail Golf Club.
The Spartans finished with an 895 team total (295–301–299), trailing only nationally ranked No. 2 DBU, and finishing ahead of several ranked programs in a deep Division II field.
The three‑round event, played March 18–19 on the 5,875‑yard, par‑71 layout at Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club, featured 12 teams including DBU (#2), CSU San Marcos (#14), UT Tyler (#5), Anderson (SC) (#3), CSU Monterey Bay (#43), Rogers State (#31), CSU Los Angeles (#37), and Ferris State (#28).
Ruth Toennessen paced the Spartans with a fourth‑place finish at +7 (72–74–74), delivering steady scoring across all three rounds to anchor Tampa near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event.

Tampa placed three players inside the top 10, underscoring the team's depth and consistency against a nationally ranked field.
Justine Bayle and Kat Brictson each finished tied for sixth at +9, while Toennessen led the way with her top‑five result.
