Kat Brictson Leads Tampa Women's Golf to Program-Best National Quarterfinals Finish
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's golf team saw its historic postseason run come to an end Friday morning as defending national champion DBU defeated the Spartans, 4.5-0.5, in the quarterfinals of the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships match play bracket at PGA National Resort.
Tampa's appearance in the national quarterfinals marked the deepest NCAA postseason run in program history after the Spartans advanced to match play for the first time following Thursday's stroke play competition.
The Spartans faced a DBU squad that entered match play as the No. 2 overall seed and reigning national champion. Despite the final scoreline, Tampa battled throughout the morning against one of the nation's top programs.

- Ruth Toennessen was defeated by Chloe Sirkin, 12UP.
- Justine Bayle defeated Madison Ude, 5UP.
- Kelly Shanahan fell to Ella Cheek, 9UP.
Bayle capped an outstanding national championship performance after finishing tied for fifth individually during stroke play competition as Brictson earned Tampa's lone point contribution during quarterfinal action.
The Spartans conclude the season with the best NCAA Championship finish in school history and the top postseason performance ever by the program.
