Spartans Host a Pair of Games this Week
Tampa, Fla. - The women's lacrosse team is set to host two games this week at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex. The Spartans will face Newberry College tomorrow at 7 p.m. and then face Mount Olive Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The Spartans enter the week with a 0-3 record, after falling 17-7 to Lees-McRae on February 24. Tampa is led by Mallory Mays, Amanda Voges, and Eileen Barrett. The trio is tied for the team lead with five points apiece. Morgan Cheripko leads the Spartans with 10 draw controls on the season.
Newberry comes into the game 0-3 record falling to Presbyterian, SCAD, and Shorter. The Wolves are led by KerriAnn Barlage, Jessica Baxtrom, and Morgan Raffaele. Barlage leads Newberry with eight points, while Baxtrom has tallied five goals and two assists. Raffaele has made 31 saves in three games.
Mount Olive comes into the game with a 3-1 record posting wins over Chowan, Catawba, and Erskine. The Trojans fell to Limestone 21-0 last Saturday. Mount Olive is led by Katie McGovern, Riann Daziel, and Hannah Knight. McGovern leads the Trojans with 10 points and 20 draw controls, while Daziel has added eight goals and an assist. Knight has made 26 saves while posting an 9.94 goals against average.
