Voges and Rom Earn All-SSC Honors
Inaugural All-SSC Women's Lacrosse Awards 4/28/2015
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Florida Southern College, Sunshine State Conference Regular Season Champion, boasts 11 All-SSC awards. In all, 28 women's lacrosse student-athletes were recognized in the first year of Sunshine State Conference women's lacrosse.
Sophomore Amanda Voges and Freshman Amanda Rom each earned second team honors. Voges led Tampa's offense as she compiled 62 points, on 49 goals and 13 assists. Rom scored 21 goals and dished out 11 assists during her freshman campaign.
Tyler Thomas of Rollins College was selected Player of the Year. Ashley Seborowski of Florida Southern and Malorie Olin of Rollins share Freshman of the Year accolades. Dennis Short of Rollins was named Coach of the Year.
A junior from Winter Park, Thomas tallied 74 points (68 goals / 6 assists) in 17 games for Rollins College. She lead the SSC in goals scored per game (4.00) and was second in points per game (4.35). Thomas was second on her team with 34 ground balls.
Freshman goalkeeper's Seborowski and Olin were first and second in SSC Save Percentage. Seborowski posted 124 saves in 20 games played for a .549 percentage. She averaged 6.20 saves per game. Olin stopped 116 shots over 17 games, recording a .444 save percentage. Olin averaged 6.82 saves per game.
Short is in his eighth season of coaching at Rollins. Under his guidance, the Tars went 13-4 overall, 3-1 in SSC Play, and won the SSC tournament as the No. 2 seed.
Voting for the All-SSC Women's Lacrosse Team was conducted among the league's head coaches.
