No.13 Limestone Takes The Win Against Tampa

GAFFNEY, SC. – The women's lacrosse team fell to No.13 Limestone.

HOW IT HAPPENED:


1st Period

  • The Saints started the period with four goals in the first ten minutes to get an early lead against the Spartans. 
  • Senior Amanda Voges scored the first goal of the game for the Spartans, assisted by Natalie Carraway with 18:07 on the board. 
  • Limestone answered back with a goal to make the score 5-1. 
  • Voges scored again for Tampa decreasing the deficit to three goals.
  • The Saints struck again to make the score 6-2.
  • Tampa responded with a goal from Allie Popelar assisted by Voges with 7:20 left of play in the period.
  • The Saints offense tacked on two more goals to make the score of the first period 8-3.

 

2nd Period

  • Limestone got on the board quickly with two goals to make to score 10-3.
  • Carraway had her first goal of the game with 25:27 on the clock, now only down by six goals.
  • Limestone tallied two more goal taking an 12-4 lead with just under 20:00 minutes left in play.
  • After another goal from the Limestone, Tampa came back with a goal from Carraway, her second of the game.
  • Shortly after with 13:56 on the clock, Voges was assisted by Amanda Rom to make the score 14-6 with Limestone leading.
  • At 11:21 Popelar was assisted from Rom to tack on another goal for Tampa.
  • Limestone fired back to make the score 19-7.

 

 

INSIDE THE STATS:

  • Voges had her first Hattrick of the season with three goals and one assist.
  • Carraway had two goals.
  • Popelar had two goals.
  • Amanda Rom had two assists.
  • Kristin Frizol had two ground balls and one caused turnover.
  • Mackenzie Hackett had eight saves.

 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Senior Amanda Voges is approaching 100 career goals this season with 94 so far. The Bayshosre, N.Y. native will be the first Spartan in program history to reach this milestone.
