Spartans and Bulldogs Battle at The Crown
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The No. 5 University of Tampa women's lacrosse team will play No. 13 Wingate in the The Crown Lacrosse Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Series History: The only time that Tampa and Wingate have played was back in 2023 in Wingate, North Carolina. The Bulldogs won the matchup 16-12.
About the Spartans: The Spartans enter the matchup ranked No. 5 in the IWLCA and No. 7 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Rankings. Tampa has posted 16-plus goals in each of its last three contests. Mary Kate Person, the SSC Offensive Player of the Week, has recorded 26 of her 33 total points in the team's last three games. Peyton Howell had five points in the Spartans' last matchup versus Pace, making her the all-time points leader in program history. Isabella Avila, Savvy Barbosa, and Person could potentially hit milestones this weekend in Charlotte. Avila is just five groundballs away from 100 for her career, Barbosa needs just nine saves to collect 200 for her career, while Person sits eight points away from 100 for her career. Five Spartans have totaled double-digit points thus far: Person, Howell, Isabel McGarvey, Alexa Borges, and Josie Bullock. The team is currently averaging 17.60 goals per game and has a 6.40 goals against average.
About the Bulldogs: Wingate boasts a 5-1 overall record and the No. 13 ranking in the IWLCA. The Bulldogs have defeated two of their three ranked matchups, with their lone loss coming to Florida Southern at home, 11-10. Since the season-opening loss, the program has won five straight. Wingate has tallied over 100 goals this season and has allowed just 42.
