Six Spartans Earn All-SSC Honors

ORLANDO, Fla. - A total of four University of Tampa women's soccer players were named first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selections, as announced Thursday by the league office. Additionally, two Spartans were also named to the second team.

Leading scorer Shelby Kuni and goalkeeper Shannon Aitken headlined the list of Spartans on the first team and they were joined by Courtney Evans and Nicole Murphy. Defenders Maria Mohammed and Ashley Flateland were represented on the second team.

Kuni, who earned her thirds career first-team all-SSC selection, is currently UT's leader with 11 goals and 26 points and she needs just one goal to tie the UT career mark of 51 with Tai Kirklin. The junior from Houston, Texas, is also Tampa's leader in shots, shots on goal and game winning goals.

A senior from Land O'Lakes, Aitken also earned her third first-team selection as she has compiled a 14-2-2 record with 46 saves and nine shutouts. Aitken is also UT's career leader in wins and shutouts.

Evans joins the first team after being named to the second team in 2006. She is the team leader with 12 assists as she is tied for second with 18 points. Murphy, a two-time second-team choice, has started all 18 matches this season while tallying a pair of goals and assists.

Mohammed returns to the second-team after being named as a freshman in 2005 while Flateland earned the honors for the first time of her career. The duo has helped Tampa's defense limit opponents to just 13 goals in 18 matches.
