MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa (6-10-1, 2-5 SSC) women's soccer team was defeated by No. 17 Florida Tech (13-2, 6-1 SSC) as the Panthers took a 3-0 victory in Sunshine State Conference action.
FIT got on the board with its first goal at 1:56, from Dee Dee Newland. The Panthers later added goals from Paula Lillsjo (44:40) and Jennifer Gillette (68:45).
After being outshot by a 12-6 margin in the first half, the Spartans rebounded to outshoot Florida Tech 9-6 in the second. The Spartans also earned more corners than the Panthers by a 4-1 mark.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal for the Spartans and recorded a career high eight saves while facing 16 shots in 90 minutes of action.
Tampa returns home for its final regular season match of the year as it hosts Saint Leo University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Pepin Stadium. UT will offer a webcast and live stats through www.tampaspartans.com.
