Women’s Soccer Tabbed at No. 14 in NSCAA National Rankings
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Following a pair of victories last week, the University of Tampa women's soccer team is now ranked No. 14 in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 poll.
Tampa is the lone Sunshine State Conference school represented in the poll. Fellow NCAA South Region foes West Florida (2) and North Alabama (21) are also ranked.
The Spartans are coming off a week where they shut out defending Sunshine State Conference regular-season champion Saint Leo on the road by a 1-0 score. UT then registered a 3-1 win on Saturday over Barry University to pick up its third straight victory.
As a team, the Spartans rank first in the nation in scoring offense (4.22).
Lauren Moore is 16th in points per game (2.56), 18th in goals per game (1.111), fifth in goals (10) and sixth in points (23). Cici Gonzalez is 19th in points per game (2.44), 19th in goals per game (1.000), eighth in goals (9) and eighth in points (22). Gabby Russo ranks 13th in assists per game (0.78) and fifth in assists (7) as Courtney Peffley is 15th in assists (5).
Additionally, Courtney Peffley is fourth in total assists (4) as Beate Jaeckel and Jess Frank are 14th with three assists apiece. Jenny Karl also ranks seventh with six total goals.
After opening the season at No. 8, UT has now been ranked in the top-25 for nine consecutive years, including a top-10 billing in the previous two. The Spartans have spent three weeks in 2012 in the national top-25.
The Spartans travel to Lynn on Wednesday for a 1 p.m., SSC road contest before returning home to host Rollins on Saturday at 5 p.m.
