Spartans Hang On To National Ranking
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team is now ranked No. 24 in the current National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 poll.
Tampa is the lone Sunshine State Conference school represented in the poll. Fellow NCAA South Region foes West Florida (1) and North Alabama (14) are also ranked.
The Spartans are coming off a week where they earned a pair of SSC victories, topping Barry and Florida Tech by respective scores of 2-1 and 4-1.
As a team, the Spartans rank third in the nation in scoring offense (3.62) and 36th in GAA (0.704).
Lauren Moore is 22nd in points per game (2.0), 24th in goals per game (0.846), 13th in goals (11) and 14th in points (26). Cici Gonzalez is 22nd in points per game (2.0), 24th in goals per game (0.846), 13th in goals (11) and 14th in points (26) and seventh in game-winning goals (4). Gabby Russo ranks 36th in assists per game (0.54) and 14th in assists (7) as Courtney Peffley is 36th in assists per game (0.54) and 14th in assists (7).
After opening the season at No. 8, UT has now been ranked in the top-25 for nine consecutive years, including a top-10 billing in the previous two. The Spartans have spent five weeks in 2012 in the national top-25, including the past three.
The Spartans travel to Rollins for a Wednesday night contest, and then Palm Beach Atlantic for a Saturday afternoon non-conference match.
