UT’s Gonzalez and Walisch Pick up Final Women’s Soccer Weekly Awards
ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Tampa's Cici Gonzalez and Shannon Walisch have claimed the final Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week presented by VALIC.
Gonzalez, a freshman forward from Lutz, Fla., factored in all four of the Spartans' goals in a 4-0 non-conference win over Saint Leo. Gonzalez scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute. She then assisted on UT's other three scoring tallies in the contest.
Walisch, a junior defender from Palm Harbor, Fla., anchored a Spartan defense that stymied Saint Leo in a 4-0 shutout. Walisch and her Spartan teammates held the Lions to just two shots the entire contest, neither of which was on goal. The shutout was UT's eighth of the season.
