FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The No. 20 University of Tampa (3-1-1) women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision in its Sunshine State Conference opener at Nova Southeastern University (4-2) on Saturday night.
The Sharks scored the lone goal of the match in the 33rd minute as Sierra Lelii netted the game-winner. Teammate Emily Stearns assisted on the goal.
Despite outshooting the Sharks 18-6, the Spartans were unable to find the net as they also held an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Caroline Frykgard finished with two saves for the Spartans.
Tampa returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Rollins College for another SSC matchup. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
