HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The University of Tampa women's soccer team remained undefeated with a dramatic 1-0 road win over the University of Alabama-Huntsville (0-1-1) on Sunday afternoon at Charger Park. Senior forward Jess Brannon played the hero, netting the game-winner in the 87th minute to lift the Spartans to a 2-0-0 record on the season.
Match Summary
In a tightly contested battle, both teams struggled to find the back of the net for most of the match. Tampa controlled possession and outshot UAH 15-6, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. Despite the offensive pressure, UAH goalkeeper CeCe Szopa stood tall, recording six saves and keeping the Chargers in the game until the final minutes.
The breakthrough came at 86:34, when Brannon capitalized on a defensive lapse and scored unassisted, slotting the ball past Szopa to give Tampa the lead. It was Brannon's first goal of the season and proved to be the decisive moment.
