Tampa, Fla. — The University of Tampa women's soccer team dropped a closely contested match on Wednesday evening, falling 1–0 to Flagler at Pepin Stadium.
After a back-and-forth first half, Flagler found the breakthrough in the 59th minute when Paige Churchill converted off an assist from Presley Ancheta. Tampa battled to create chances late in the match but was unable to find the equalizer despite sustained offensive pressure.
Both teams generated quality looks throughout the night, with Tampa testing Flagler goalkeeper Phoebe Carpenter, who finished with four saves. The Spartans' defensive unit held firm for most of the match, limiting the Saints to just five shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Lia Doohan anchored the Spartans once again, recording four saves over 90 minutes in a composed performance. Defensively, Lauren Holschauer, Jess Brannon, and Kendall Gouner each went the distance, maintaining structure and composure in the back line. Offensively, Sydni Dennis, Brielle Johnston, and Ally Wold provided energy in the attack, while Tara McDonald and Brooke Kittner helped generate movement in the final third.
With the result, Tampa moved to 5-6-4 overall, continuing its competitive stretch late in the season.
