TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 9 University of Tampa men's swimming team claimed a first-place finish among four teams at the annual UT Relays as the No. 10 Spartan women were second.
UT's men had 140 total points, topping South Dakota State, SUNY-Geneseo and SUNY-New Paltz. Rice won the women's meet with 126 points as the Spartans had 98. SUNY-Geneseo, South Dakota State, Arkansas-Little Rock, SUNY-New Paltz and Minnesota State-Moorehead also competed in the women's events.
Tampa's men took first-place in all 10 races, beginning with the 800 Free Relay of Jeremy Parker, Derek Krell, Elias Dammann and Scott Nocco in a time of 7:09.62.
UT's men also won the 3x100 Back Relay with Karl Burdis, Joshua Werner and Jordan Augier (2:37.71), 3x100 Breast Relay from Kevin Doran, Jonathan Wilks and David Sotoul (3:05.34), 3x100 Fly Relay from David Humphrey, Felipe Manzo and Werner (2:37.04), 500 Free Crescendo Relay from Augier, Khalid Aldaboos, Krell and Parker (4:14.20), 400 Medley Relay from Burdis, Doran, Werner and Humphrey (3:32.59), 200 Free Relay from Aldaboos, Augier, Stephen Zieler and Manzo (1:26.04), 3x166 SNARF Relay from Dammann, Kyle Frediger and Kameron Kilpatrick (5:15.36), 400 IM Relay from Doran, Nocco, Zane Hranac and Werner (3:42.18), 400 Free Relay from Humphrey, Aldaboos, Krell and Parker (3:09.25).
Tampa's women also had a top finish from its 400 IM Relay team of Alexandra Webb, Allison Noe, Catherine Parker and Michelle Walcker. They clocked a time of 4:19.99.
The Spartans return to the pool on Thursday at 3 p.m., as they host NCAA Division III power Emory University at the UT Aquatics Center. The meet will have live video through TampaSpartans.tv.
