LAKELAND, Fla. - The University of Tampa tennis team completed the 2008 season on a positive note, registering a 6-3 victory over Florida Tech in the final day of the Sunshine State Conference tournament. UT ends the season at 10-15 while FIT is 15-15.
Tampa started the match with a pair of victories in doubles play. The number two team of Caitlin Scudder and Emily Kennedy took an 8-4 victory, as the three team of Ally Wooten and Lindsay Garyn won by an 8-0 mark.
In singles, the Spartans won the three through six matches as Garyn, Scudder, Kennedy and Wooten all won respectively.
After winning the seventh place match in arguably the toughest conference in the nation, the Spartans complete a season where it met 10 nationally ranked opponents. Of the 10, four were in the top 10.
This also marks the first back-to-back double figure victory seasons in program history for Tampa.
