Spartan Tennis Caps Successful Fall Season With National Ranking
SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2012-13 preseason NCAA Division II rankings, placing the University of Tampa at No. 26 to mark the highest ranking in program history.
The 26th-ranked Spartans are also ranked No. 9 in the South Region based on performances at a pair of fall tournaments, the Florida Tech and Georgia College Invitationals.
Top singles player Thashia Garcia is also listed at No. 50 in the list of the nation's top players as the doubles team of Lauren Hewett and Meg Wladimirski is No. 10 in the region.
At 26, Tampa is one of eight Sunshine State Conference teams in the national poll as Lynn (4), Barry (5), Saint Leo (12), Rollins (13), Nova Southeastern (16), Florida Southern (17) and Florida Tech (18) are all recognized.
